Building on your Foundations – Financial Tools is a five session course which starts with the basics of bookkeeping and then launches into QuickBooks for more advanced financial management.

Session 1 starts with bookkeeping basics

Session 2 you set up your own company

Session 3 deals with customer issues (invoicing and receivables)

Session 4 deals with vendors issues (payables)

Session 5 teaches you how to generate financial statements and touches on payroll and inventory.

What is it?
The SheBIZ Alliance is a women’s networking and referral alliance! The mission of the SheBIZ Alliance is to provide women a place to network and develop business leads in a non-competitive business environment over six months.

How does it work?
The SheBIZ Alliance will hold closed monthly meetings of no more than 20 women. In these meetings you will have a chance to present your business and in
turn the group members will work to generate business leads for you.

What’s required of me?
Each member must agree to get leads for another business. You should bring 20
business cards to your first meeting. Each member will be required to sign a
confidentiality agreement. We will provide lunch.

Who can join?
Any woman owned and operated small business can join.

Group 1: First Friday of every month
Group 2: Last Wednesday of every month

Who are the members of AAF Asheville? They’re advertising, marketing, and interactive agencies, writers, printers, photographers, graphic designers, web designers, paper companies, web developers, corporate marketing and communications pros, advertising media companies and reps, PR specialists, marketing consultants, and others in the business of communication. We hail from Asheville, Hendersonville, Brevard, Black Mountain and other WNC areas.

AAF Asheville offers club members and the community at large access to monthly CONNECT networking events hosted by local restaurants with no cover charge or RSVP required. AAFA also sponsors a variety of local educational programs on topics relevant to today’s business climate.

American Advertising Federation Asheville (AAF Asheville) is also part of the national American Advertising Federation, the oldest advertising trade association in the US. There are some 200 clubs across the country, and about 225 student chapters. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the association acts as the unifying voice for advertising, promoting, and protecting the trade.

Projects range from casual socializing at bi-monthly get-togethers to the development of the Meet the Geeks website which includes the IT Directory and Forums. Our goal is to build a network of professionals across all the IT sectors – from development to recruiting, programming to capital – that promotes relationships and the cross-pollination of ideas that will foster growth in Western North Carolina.

BNI (Business Networking International) Chapters in Asheville, NC

BNI or Business Networking International is an international organization of professionals that form chapters, build strong relationships and pass qualified referrals each week. The system is based on the principle of Givers Gain and was started by Dr. Ivan Misner. Each chapter accepts one company or individual per business category. Membership is based on annual dues.

Asheville is currently home to 2 BNI chapters. The Beaucatcher Chapter meets each Tuesday for lunch from noon to 1:30 at O’Charley’s on Tunnel Road. The Referral Source Chapter meets Wednesday mornings from 8 until 9:30 am at the UNCA Botanical Gardens. Asheville is also in the process of strating a 3rd area BNI chapter and is taking applications from companies that can not currently be placed in an existing chapter. Podcasting: Producing Web Audio and Video

High School Classroom

For the beginner in web audio and video, this class offers an overview of some of the basic tools (software and hardware) needed to produce quality web audio and video. A professional videographer, Stephanie Carson, will be on hand to demonstrate and answer questions. Sarah Benoit, an online marketing specialist, will discuss methods of using podcasting as a promotional device for websites. Discussions will include methods of placing web audio and video on websites and syndicating the content across multiple web channels to generate traffic. This hands-on, interactive learning class is a great preparation for any small to medium sized business owner or individual interested in producing professional quality web audio and video. (3 hrs)
