Our Founder – Lori Gerber MS.
Lori Gerber MS. has been providing services to crime victims, witnesses, survivors and emergency responders for over 25 years. She is a passionate advocate for victim rights and believes that all crime victims, witness’s and survivors deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. She is also the founder of the Center for New Beginnings.
Lori has worked in the court system along side police departments. When she moved to Western North Carolina she saw a need for the community to gain knowledge of Victim Rights and to provide services. Lori was named WLOS Person of Week, has been interviewed by WLOS on several issues related to Victim Services and is providing workshops and training to Western North Carolina University Intercultural Affairs, Criminal Justice Department and internships for students in the Social Work Department.
Mrs. Gerber is also a consultant for the Office of Victims of Crime who is a component of the Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice which provide training to all victim service providers and allied professionals who serve crime victims and oversee programs that have been designed to benefit and assist crime victims.
