Who are the members of AAF Asheville? They’re advertising, marketing, and interactive agencies, writers, printers, photographers, graphic designers, web designers, paper companies, web developers, corporate marketing and communications pros, advertising media companies and reps, PR specialists, marketing consultants, and others in the business of communication. We hail from Asheville, Hendersonville, Brevard, Black Mountain and other WNC areas.

AAF Asheville offers club members and the community at large access to monthly CONNECT networking events hosted by local restaurants with no cover charge or RSVP required. AAFA also sponsors a variety of local educational programs on topics relevant to today’s business climate.

American Advertising Federation Asheville (AAF Asheville) is also part of the national American Advertising Federation, the oldest advertising trade association in the US. There are some 200 clubs across the country, and about 225 student chapters. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the association acts as the unifying voice for advertising, promoting, and protecting the trade.

AAF Asheville is proud to announce the March 2, 2010 CONNECT event. The free event requires no RSVP and will be held from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Satchel’s Bar at 56 Patton Ave, in downtown Asheville. This is a great way to meet and network with local experts, small business owners and professionals while enjoying the beauty of downtown in a fantastic location.

What are the ADDY Awards?

Be a part of something huge. The best of the best. The ADDY® Awards are the world’s largest advertising competition, awarding creative excellence for more than 40 years. It’s a true honor to receive an award, regardless of the level. Each year some 60,000 entries are received. This competition recognizes advertising from all types of media, creative sizes, and entrants from anywhere in the world. It’s the only creative award program administered by the ad industry for the ad industry.

These entries begin at the local level; AAF Asheville will host its first competition in January 2010. Gold ADDY Award winners from our competition will proceed to District level; winners there go to national competition. There are both professional and student entries. This is our chance to shine; don’t miss this competition.

The ADDY Award committee needs you! Join the AAFA and create Asheville’s ADDY competition and party. Planning has already started and will continue over the summer and fall. Many, many volunteers are needed during January and February, when the annual competition and awards ceremony take place.

Join us as we look at the past in advertising with some of the men and women who were there. This will be an excellent event for both experienced advertising, marketing and PR professionals, as well as those new to these fields. On December 8th from 6 – 8 PM the AAFA, which serves all of Western North Carolina, will be hosting a free “ADDY’s Workshop” to help interested participants learn the basics about the competition guidelines and preparing entries. The local ADDY® Awards is the first of a three-tier, national competition. Entry in the local ADDY® competition is the first step toward winning a national ADDY®.

AAF Asheville and Wild Wing Cafe present the AAF Asheville Holiday Party to benefit the Saint Nicholas Project

Join AAF Asheville members and the Board of Directors on December 9, 2009 at Wild Wing Cafe from 5:30 to 7:30 PM and support the Saint Nicholas Project, one of the local Eblen-Kimmel charities.
