The Economic Development Coalition and the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce partner annually with numerous workforce and industry allies to promote employment opportunities in advanced manufacturing, health care, and other growth industries in Western North Carolina.

Residents, students, graduates, former residents, and friends and family visiting over the holidays are encouraged to attend this one-stop opportunity to meet directly with representatives from companies who are hiring, will be hiring in 2010, or who would like to have a presence to promote awareness of their company to potential future employees.

For the December meeting, the Women’s Business Exchange will gather to share food and fellowship in a casual setting. There will not be a formal program; instead, this will be a celebration of successful business women! Attendees are encouraged (but not required) to bring a light finger food dish as well as a “gift” from your company to donate to the door prize drawings. Don’t forget business cards, promo materials, and lots of good cheer.

Commissioners are appointed by city council, and the next deadline for applications to council are coming up on Wed, Jan. 6th, 2010.

TEN commissions have openings, including sustainability, transit, and river redevelopment.
